Information you provide directly
- Your name, email address, and sign-in details when you create an account or contact support.
- Profile details and preferences you choose to save, such as property interest, experience level, priorities, theme, and backup settings.
- Waitlist or launch-update information if you choose to submit it through the website.
Scan and walkthrough data
- Property information you enter, such as address, property details, notes, room names, and checklist responses.
- Issues, comments, severity selections, follow-up notes, and exported report content you create in the app.
Media and related metadata
- Photos and videos you capture with the app.
- Capture metadata such as timestamps and device-generated file details.
- If you enable location-related features, location information may be included in captured evidence metadata.
Device, usage, and diagnostic data
- Basic app activity data, such as app opens and capture events, to support product analytics and reliability.
- Crash and diagnostic information if crash reporting is enabled for the app build you are using.
- App version, platform, and similar technical details needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide the core ShowingScan experience, including walkthrough capture, organization, report export, and account restore.
- Authenticate users and maintain account, profile, and preference settings.
- Sync supported scan data across app sessions or devices when you choose to sign in.
- Back up or restore media through Apple iCloud when you enable that option.
- Save copies of captured media to the Apple Photos app when you enable that option.
- Respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues, monitor reliability, and improve the product.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect the security and integrity of the service.
3. How ShowingScan Stores Data
Local-first storage
ShowingScan stores scan content on your device by default so you can use the app without being forced into a cloud-only workflow.
Optional account sync
If you sign in, ShowingScan may sync account information, profile preferences, property details, checklist responses, and issue notes to ShowingScan's backend so your scans can be restored later.
Media storage
Captured photos and videos are not uploaded to ShowingScan's backend as part of ordinary app operation. They remain on your device unless you choose one of the Apple-controlled storage options described below.
Apple-controlled storage options
- If you enable media backup, the app may copy media to your iCloud account.
- If you enable Save Media to Photos App, the app may save copies to your Apple Photos library.
4. When We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use third-party advertising trackers in ShowingScan.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- With service providers that help us operate ShowingScan, such as providers for authentication, database hosting, analytics, and diagnostics.
- With Apple when you use Apple platform features such as Sign in with Apple, iCloud backup, or the Photos app.
- When required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
- To enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or address security issues.
- As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality requirements.
5. Your Choices and Controls
- You can use core app functionality locally without signing in.
- You can disable location inclusion in captured photos through app settings.
- You can turn iCloud media backup on or off in app settings.
- You can turn Save Media to Photos App on or off in app settings.
- You can export your data from the app's Settings area where available.
- You can delete your account from the app's Settings area.
- You can manage app permissions through iOS Settings.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- Local media remains on your device until you delete it or delete the app.
- iCloud and Photos copies are subject to your Apple account settings.
- Account and synced scan data are generally retained until you delete your account, unless retention is legally required.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
ShowingScan is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address the issue.
9. International Processing
ShowingScan and its service providers may process information in the United States and other jurisdictions where they operate. By using the service, you understand that your information may be processed outside your state, province, or country, subject to applicable law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice when appropriate.
